STUDIO CO-OP PROGRAM
The Independent Music Foundation has created a co-op for musicians to enable
them to book time at professional recording studios in bulk
at discounted rates.
Under a
current affiliation with Hyde Street Studios, musicians can sign up with the
Independent Music Foundation and become eligible to book studio time with an
engineer at $45 per hour. If logistical, the engineer also will meet with
the band prior to recording. This is a potential savings of $300 to $400 per
day. The Independent Music Foundation needs to book at least a week's
worth of time every month to get the discounted rate. Studio rates are capped
after 10 hours so it is advised bands book 10-hour days to secure a lockout and
the best working environment, but in some cases less time can be arranged.
We are also actively seeking donations to lower these costs even
further. Donations can be made by clicking the Network for Good button to the
left. You may stipulate that you want funds to go directly toward lowering the
cost of studio time for low income musicians by stating so in the given field.
Hyde Street Studios is the most storied recording studio in the
Bay Area. When San
Francisco was a center for the American music scene groups recording there included Santana, the Grateful Dead,
Jefferson Airplane, Creedence
Clearwater Revival and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Under current ownership
clients have included Green Day, Chris Isaak, the Dead Kennedys, George Clinton, Chrissie Hynde, Bonnie Raitt, Prince, Willie Nelson, Joe Satriani and many
others. It is noted for having one of the best microphone collections in the
Northwest.

STREET MUSICIAN PROJECT
The Independent Music Foundation is currently seeking donations for it planned
street music compilation. We need to raise an additional $5,000 to put the
project together, record and manufacture the CDs.
The benefits to the musicians include free recording, exposure and free CDs
to sell on the street. Musicians keep all rights to their music.
This is the first of two planned compilations, including a jazz jam to
follow. To donate, click on the Network for Good button to the left. You may
stipulate that you want funds to go directly toward this project by stating so
in the given field.
